Divine and radiant Angelica
In the world of beauty, Angelica emerges as one of the great natural muses of the perfume industry: Noa by Cacharel, Angélique Noire by Guerlain and Angélique Lilas in the Aqua Allegoria series, Angélique Sous La Pluie by Jean-Claude Ellena for Frédéric Malle, Obsession Night by Calvin Klein… In turn, all these fragrances explore the many facets of the plant: herbaceous, woody, musky, peppery and powdery.
But Angelica is not just a plant for perfume. Angel grass, Holy Spirit grass, Angelica archangelica has been used in France as a medicinal plant for a very long time. Today in cosmetics, even though it is used by a few major names in natural cosmetics like Occitane or Dr Hauschka, its presence is still relatively discreet, like a sleeping beauty waiting to be discovered..
At Herbarom, our Angelica supply has been managed through culture contracts for over 20 years, mainly for the production of essential oils whose quality is guaranteed by:
- The choice of land to respect the plant’s natural needs, with a climate characterised by important temperature differences and deep, rich, damp soils that can be found in Niortais and certain alluvial basins in the Loire and Rhône Valleys.
- A varietal selection resulting from research between 1996 and 2000 by ITEPMAI (Technical Plant Institute).
- A method of preparing the seed and low-pressure still distillation within 30 days after harvest.
Recent studies on the anti-inflammatory, anti-age and anti-microbial properties of the plant infer possible developments in the cosmetics industry.
