The acrobat
« As an accountant, I handle the legal, accounting, financial, social and fiscal details for the company, and it's the variety of tasks that I particularly enjoy, from handling the cash to personnel administration, producing financial reports and developing the key financial indicators.
Computer and calculator absolutely essential!
Apart from the obvious technical competence, the job requires an ability to analyse and summarise, but also rigour and initiative.
These same qualities are required (plus bodily suppleness and flexibility) in my spare time passion as a trapeze artist, something I have been doing since childhood.
Practising Circus Arts, such as leaping into the void from an 11 metre board, is a guaranteed way of forgetting any work-induced stresses!
Such jumps, catching a trapeze, then releasing to catch hold of another or be caught by or to catch a fellow artist, whilst performing acrobatic manoeuvres, develops confidence in oneself and in others, and an understanding of one's limits.
It is a discipline that ensures controlling the body in space, control of fear of the void, and an ability to anticipate.
For me it is an art form - a mixture of sport, passion and pleasure. »
